“I am concerned that in addressing the H.H.S. mandate that it be clear that what we are dealing with is a matter of religious liberty and the intrusion of government into the church and that it not be perceived as a woman’s issue or a contraceptive issue. I think there are different groups that are trying to co-opt this and make it into political issue, and that’s why we need to have a deeper discussion as bishops.”

One day after a group of bishops sued the Obama administration over a mandate for employers to provide contraception coverage, a California bishop says he and some other bishops are worried that the church’s campaign against the mandate is becoming too political and could hurt the Catholic Church.

Come this summer, U.S. Olympic hurdler Lolo Jones might become sports’ most famous virgin.

“I just don’t believe in it,” the 29-year-old Jones told HBO’s “Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel.” “It's just a gift I want to give my husband. But please understand this journey has been hard. There’s virgins out there and I want to let them know that it’s the hardest thing I’ve ever done in my life. Harder than training for the Olympics. Harder than graduating from college has been to stay a virgin before marriage. I’ve been tempted, I’ve had plenty of opportunities.”
