Fong took an unofficial visit to Annapolis on Thursday, got offered while there and pondered the decision over the weekend, Gar-Field Coach Andy Gray said.

More than 25 scholarship offers had come to the 6-3, 225-pound defensive end, and last month he cut his list to two schools: Florida and Alabama.

The Colonials landed Montrose Christian center Kevin Larsen on Monday, adding to a significant recruiting haul that also includes All-Met guards Kethan Savage of Episcopal and Joe McDonald of Landon.

Levenberry committed to Florida State on Tuesday afternoon in the Hylton auditorium, about a decade after 2001 All-Met Defensive Player of the Year Ahmad Brooks held his audience captive in that same room during a seven-second pregnant pause before announcing his intention to attend Virginia, spurning three other finalists, including Florida State.

Damonte Dodd, a 6-foot-9 forward from Queen Anne’s County, said Tuesday he plans to sign his National Letter of Intent next week during an official visit to Maryland, which means he’ll be on the Terrapins’ roster for the 2012-13 season. Dodd said he has not been informed yet whether the Maryland coaches plan to redshirt him next season.

 There had been speculation ever since Dodd orally committed to the Terrapins in late February that he might spend a year at a prep school before enrolling at Maryland. Dodd said he had reviewed a list of potential prep schools and that at one point it seemed he was headed for Notre Dame Prep in Massachusetts. Had that been the case, Dodd said he would have been fine with that option.

The D.C. metro area continues to produce some of the country’s top football prospects. The ESPN 150, which comprises the top football players in the class of 2013, was released today, and five local players made the initial list, including a pair of first-team All-Mets from Good Counsel.
