The Cavaliers will travel to Madison, Wis., on Nov. 28 to play the Badgers as part of the 2012 ACC/Big Ten Challenge, Virginia announced Monday. It will be the first time Tony Bennett has faced Wisconsin since leaving Coach Bo Ryan’s staff in 2003 to join his father at Washington State.

So it should come as no surprise that the position battles that have been most entertaining for him to watch these past two weeks involve the team’s wide receivers and secondary. It seems whenever the football has been in the air, London can’t help but take heed of the end result.

Harris, who played the final month of the season with a fracture in his non-shooting hand, had said a procedure might be necessary once the 2011-12 campaign was finished. The Cavaliers lost to Florida, 71-45, Friday in the round of 64 in the NCAA tournament.

“I would assume one will work,” Virginia assistant Ritchie McKay said Thursday, a day before the team’s NCAA tournament opener. “Against Florida, you certainly don’t want to give them easy baskets.”

But that time most certainly had ended by Friday evening, at which point Virginia had lost, 67-64, to North Carolina State in the ACC tournament quarterfinals. With roughly 48 hours remaining until the announcement of the field of 68, the Cavaliers appeared apprehensive, rather than excited, about learning their postseason fate.

At the time, Harris said, he didn’t know he’d suffered the first concussion of his life. He didn’t even remember the collision that had caused it. Nearly a week removed from that night, Harris sat in Virginia’s locker room Wednesday at Philips Arena in Atlanta and said he feels fine now. He’ll play Friday in the Cavaliers’ ACC tournament quarterfinal matchup against either North Carolina State or Boston College.
